Lizana’s school Social Worker, Ms. Beth, is part of the Lizana Education Team. One goal of the school social worker is to develop and facilitate groups to address student needs. These groups will always meet during the student’s activity time and will use the district sponsored program called “Why Try” to help students to develop social skills, coping strategies and to find positive solutions to their issues.
Limited (one – on – one) individual sessions can be scheduled during a student’s activity time to address: loss or grief, social media issues or other sensitive area’s that a student may be experiencing in their life. Parents / guardians are welcome to contact Ms. Beth about setting up a session or the student can ask their teacher to do this for them.
Lizana’s social worker also will communicate with parents/guardians, and serve as a resource to students, families and other school staff members. Our Lizana social worker often serves as a bridge between school, home and our community to help students and their families to be as successful as possible.
